Terrell Herring, president of Mission Pharmacal Company in Texas and former COO and CEO of inVentive Health, Inc., supports his community in a variety of ways. In addition to serving as an elder at his local church, Terrell Herring has been supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America since 1993.
For over 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ commitment to helping children thrive and succeed has led to the creation of several programs, most recently the Promoting Enhanced Resilience and Learning (PERL) program. In mid-March, the organization announced the launch of its new project, which focuses on supporting children with learning differences that are struggling in school. The new PERL project will expand the unique mentoring system that Big Brothers Big Sisters uses, helping volunteers and parents understand the challenges and needs of each child. The project hopes to improve academic resiliency and outcomes for those children with learning differences, while also changing how Big Brothers Big Sisters handles the unique needs of the children it serves. PERL is funded by the Oak Foundation and The Duke Endowment, who granted the project $1 million.
